Haryana Excise, Taxation Dept, sees gross sales up 65 %

The Excise and Tax Department of the Haryana Government saw revenue this year up 65 percent from the previous fiscal year.

Deputy Prime Minister Dushyant Chautala, who also heads the Excise and Tax Department, said on Sunday that in this excise tax year 2021-22-26, revenue of Rs 20,558 crore has been collected, compared to Rs 12,831 crore of Rs 12,831 crore in the same period last year received by the government.

Compared to the previous year, there was an increase of 65 percent during this period, he said. He provided information on total sales tax, CST, GST and excise tax revenues over the past 3 years and said that Rs 37.350 billion in 2018-19, Rs 39.837 billion in 2019-20 and Rs 45.119 billion in 2020 -21 were received as revenue. The Deputy Prime Minister said that for 2020-21, the Excise Agency’s liquor contracts were auctioned for Rs.3,559 billion, while the minimum price was Rs 3,128 billion.

He said that for the 2021-22 excise tax year, those who already had licenses were given the option to enter into contracts with a 10 percent increase, and thus 85 percent of the contracts were renewed.

That excise tax year, liquor deal revenue of Rs. 3,803 crore was received in the form of fees, he added.

He also said an additional quota of 32.42 percent for Indian-made spirits from the country and 25.45 percent for foreign spirits was raised over the course of 2020.

Dushyant said that during the 2020-21 excise year inspection, 1,249 cases were found for violating the rules, fined Rs 257 crore to defaulters. Over Rs. 136 crore was also recovered from them, he added.
