Fla. Payments search hashish legalization, taxation

Law360 (Feb.26, 2021, 5:19 p.m. EST) – Florida would legalize and tax recreational cannabis under two House bills introduced.

HB 1361 and HB 1363 were introduced Thursday by Rep. Christopher Benjamin, D-Miami Gardens. HB 1363 would require cannabis growers to pay an excise tax on cannabis transfers to retailers of $ 50 per ounce, which by law would be linked to inflation. According to the bill, the measure also provides for a local consumption tax of up to 15% on retail sales. Fees for those applying for licenses to set up cannabis are capped at $ 5,000 each.
