A truck driver was charged with disregarding a sign after an awning destroyed a bank entrance. Windham County Sheriff’s deputies said the incident occurred Tuesday night at the River Valley Credit Union in Putney. The truck and attached 53 foot trailer were operated by Timothy Parker of Baltimore Maryland. Parker shipped over 40,000 pounds of frozen Tyson chicken for Transam Transportation out of Kansas. The drive-through awning was completely torn from the building and collapsed. The gutter of the awning speared the side of the refrigerated trailer. There are 5 signs on the property that restrict the entry of semi-trailers into the parking lot due to length and height restrictions. DMV Officer Cuttita grounded the damaged trailer. Transam Transportation sent an empty trailer to pick up the cargo.

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is reminding the public not to swim in fishing access areas for safety reasons. The main use of the fishing access areas is for launching and hauling in motor boats. The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department maintains 196 developed fishing access areas on lakes and rivers across the state. These areas have legal uses, and swimming is not one of them. The access areas have been purchased and are being maintained with funds from the sale of fishing licenses and motorboat registrations, as well as a federal excise tax on fishing tackle, tackle, and motorboat gasoline. These sources of funding specifically prohibit activities that conflict with fishing and boating. Fish and wildlife regulations prohibit certain uses of access areas for fishing, including but not limited to – swimming, dropping, camping, Picnicking, making fires, parking unprivileged vehicles, and commercial activities.
