KARACHI – Provincial Excise and Tax Minister Mukesh Kumar Chawla said on Sunday that Rs 8521,434 million Karachi and Rs 494.174 million from Hyderabad in relation to vehicle tax. During the same period, 233.420 million rupees were collected from Sukkur and 92.363 million rupees from Shaheed Benazirabad. He further said that Rs.119.223 million was collected from Larkana and rupees 59.434 million from Mirpurkhas for road tax purposes. Chwala reported that 1520.132 million rupees were collected from Karachi and 77.334 million rupees from Hyderabad for property tax purposes. According to Chawla, in terms of property tax, 37,501 million rupees were collected from Sukkur and 10,241 million rupees from Shaheed Benazirabad, while 23,470 million rupees were collected from Larkana and 11,197 million rupees from Mirpurkhas.
He said officer and staff performance had been exemplary in the 2020-21 fiscal year and hoped officers and staff would do better in the new 2021-22 fiscal year through a comprehensive tax collection plan. He said that as law abiding citizens, taxpayers should pay their taxes on time. He said the excise and tax department staff are always keen to serve tax collectors and that the department is taking tough measures against those who negligently perform their duties.
