In what may be his last official act as President of the United States Donald Trump apologized for his longtime on-screen supporter ex-husband at Fox News, Judge Jeanine Pirro. The White House released Pirro’s name in the final hour of Trump’s tenure when Air Force One landed in West Palm Beach.
Albert PirroThe 73-year-old New York attorney, who previously represented Trump on multiple real estate transactions, was accused of purchasing over $ 1 million worth of personal luxury goods such as homes, cars and art, which he then deducted from his taxes as business expenses .
Pirro was charged in the southern borough of New York (SDNY) on 33 federal criminal charges and convicted in 2000 on multiple counts including US fraud conspiracy, tax evasion, fraud and false information, serving nearly a year in prison .
Following his indictment, the New York Times wrote in 1999 of Pirro’s ties to Trump:
Albert Pirro, a self-made millionaire, is the county’s most successful real estate attorney Donald Trump, Viacom or Home Depot have been looking for when building in Westchester. He is a generous contributor to Republicans and has become a muscular lobbyist in Albany in recent years. In 1996 he made more than $ 500,000 for helping Mr. Trump’s Atlantic City operation fight competition through a proposal for legalized gambling in the Catskills.
Albert Pirro’s conviction coincided with Jeanine Pirro’s time as a District Attorney in Westchester.
The Pirros were married in 1975, separated in 2007 and divorced in 2013. They have two children together. Albert also fathered a child with another woman during their marriage.
Six years after his conviction and bailout, Albert was reinstated as an attorney in 2007.
Jeanine Pirro was one of President Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters and consistently defended him on Saturday night’s Fox News show Justice with Judge Jeanine.
